DIY Ideas for Knobs

Refurbishing and updating old furniture is very popular these days.  I am always on the lookout for a great thrift store or habitat find!  Many times you will find an old piece of furniture you love, but some or all the knobs and handles are missing.  I thought it would be fun to find different and unique ideas for DIY knobs. You never know when you might need some inspiration.

The knobs below are ones I particularly like, but there are soooo many more ideas out there!

Have you ever used an unconventional item for knobs or handles on furniture? I would love to hear. :D

Habitat Restore Headboard Find

Habitat Restore is a fabulous place to find treasures. I’m usually there a couple of times a week – More if I’m looking for something in particular.

For the first time ever, I came across a headboard for a king size bed. Not a common find at my Habitat store!  The color is “non-traditional”, but perfect for my room.

Habitat Restore carries a lot of the materials you would need for a DIY makeover… paintbrushes, caulk, paint trays, tools, hardware, and wood. The prices are C.H.E.A.P.!

Check out your local Habitat. Even if you don’t think you need something, it’s almost guaranteed you will walk away with something “you just have to have”. ;)

$45.00 bargain from the local Habitat Restore. Perfect color for my newly repainted bedroom.

The color of the headboard is a blue-ish gray. It was meant to be mine. :)

Here’s some other “finds” from the Habitat Restore.

habitat finds

Sanding, paint, and new hardware gave this old desk a new life.

I have two of these chairs. $15.00 each. I have seen almost identical chairs in the Ballard Designs catalog for hundreds of dollars.

This chair was $10.00. Just needed a little glue. I added a cushion and DONE. :D

Stenciling Ideas for Home Decor

Stenciling is everywhere these days.  Search on Google or Pinterest, and you will find stenciling ideas for furniture, curtains, floors and just about any other surface you can think of.  I remember (back in the day!) when stenciling ivy leaves was the big thing for kitchens.  And those were only done as borders.  Not anymore!

Now you can get stencils big or small, simple or intricate.  The designs are limitless.  There are many online stores that sell stencils, as well as home improvement stores, craft stores and Etsy shops.

I do see future projects happening in my head!  Oh boy!  Take a look at these stenciling ideas. ;)
